Wedding
FAQ's
Why should
we hire 2Way Entertainment for our wedding?
We've got the experience managing the entertainment in every kind
of wedding: indoor or outdoor, large or intimate, classical or hip-hop,
and everything in between. Our staff is professional, courteous, and
more than eager to assist you in tailoring our services to match your
needs.
Can you
help plan our reception?
Absolutely. We'll sit down and talk with you about what you'd like,
what we think works in the venue you've selected, and more. Also,
over the years, we've worked alongside some great caterers, florists,
and photographers -- and we'd be happy to put you in touch with them.
How soon
should we book our DJ?
We generally schedule four to eight months in advance, with some dates
booked over a year in advance, and some events scheduled at the last
minute. So, it's best if you get in touch with us as soon as possible,
but if you're in a pinch there's still a chance we can help you.
What will
you be wearing?
We wear single-breasted shawl-lapel black tuxedos, unless you would
like us to wear something else.
Can you
go longer than the hours we originally specify?
Certainly for an evening reception, if the crowd is still in the mood
for more music, we can play longer. In many afternoon receptions,
the same holds true. In each case a small surcharge is applied, but
we'll discuss it with you beforehand.
What kind
of music will you play?
We've got a lot of everything -- jazz and classical music, oldies,
big band selections, motown, classic rock, disco, new wave, alternative,
country, hip hop and R & B, and more. We've got some ideas for
what works during cocktail hour, dinnertime, and dancing, but we're
completely flexible -- let's talk.
What say
do I have in the music selection? Can my guests make requests?
There's a reason our motto is "You Say How We Play" -- our
25,000 song library is at your disposal. Some couples hand-pick every
single song (at 12-15 songs an hour, that's a tall order) and don't
want their guests to make requests. Others are content to let us use
our judgment and gauge the crowd's reactions when it comes to choosing
music. Most people, though, come to us with a handful of songs that
they want to hear (and maybe a "do not play" list). They'll
ask us to confine our selections to a few genres, or to play a lot
of songs from a singe artist or era. We're happy to make suggestions,
but it's your day and we're happy to play it your way.
How loud
will you play?
We pride ourselves on hitting just the right decibel level throughout
the reception. During cocktails and dinner, your guests will have
no trouble hearing each other. We crank it up when people take to
the dance floor, but even then the volume at the tables never gets
uncomfortable.
Can I
(or anyone else) sing?
Sure. We normally use the microphones for the toast or a blessing,
but if someone in your party wants to read something special or sing
a song, we're happy to oblige. We can play something in the background
if you want, as well.
Do you
know that song... ?
Our staff knows a lot of music. We can help you figure out who sings
what, even if you only know a few lines or can hum the melody. Chances
are (with our 25,000 song library) we already own the song. If it's
something a little more obscure -- maybe an oldie from your parent's
wedding, or something ethnic --we might have to do a little sleuthing
to find it. But that's something we're happy to do (it's how we learned
so much about music in the first place).
Do you
have back-up equipment?
Your wedding day is too important for us to be cutting corners. We
always come with backup CD players, mixers, amps, speakers -- right
down to the wires, fuses, and power strips.
Why should
I go with a DJ rather than a band?
Live music can be nice, but bands have their limitations. We can literally
play any song ever recorded, whereas a band's selection is more limited,
and their songs will never sound just like the original. It's a little
harder for a band to adjust their volume. Also, bands need to take
breaks now and then, but we never stop.
